Introduction
The Centre for Vocational Education Research (CVER) was launched in March 2015, set up by the then Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and subsequently by the Department for Education.
The funding from these sources ended in March 2020. Some of the research projects commenced during that time are still ongoing.
Some new research projects under the remit of CVER and also under the Education and Skills programme of the Centre for Economic Performance have started during this time. This includes work on apprenticeships for the Sutton Trust and the evaluation of Skills Bootcamps, commissioned by the Department for Education.
The Centre brings together four partners, all with significant and acknowledged expertise in vocational education:
- The Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics, led by Professor Sandra McNally (Director of CVER)
- The University of Sheffield, led by Professor Steven McIntosh
- The National Institute of Economic and Social Research, led by Dr Stefan Speckesser
- London Economics, led by Dr Gavan Conlon
Informing our research
